Design Inspiration

Meet Hoops!

You may recognise this cheeky chappy from the Giraffe About Town adverts around the city.

Inspired by the creative campaign and designed by Flock Creative, the minds behind Hoops used a simple pattern and bold colours for maximum impact! Named after his striking orange rings, Hoops’ pattern was based on the distinctive shapes found/seen in real animal prints with a contemporary twist.

Painted by Suzanne Scott, an artist and illustrator based in Dundee who works under the name WhimSicAL LusH. Suzanne creates unique, quirky illustrations and is a Wild in Art trail veteran having previously painted sculptures in the Oor Wullie’s BIG Bucket Trail and Maggie’s Dundee Penguin Parade. As well as working on designs for WhimSicAL LusH, Suzanne enjoys collaborating and working alongside others, leading and being part of creative projects. She enjoys helping others find their voice through art and can often be heard shouting about how therapeutic creativity can be!

Suzanne Scott is an artist and illustrator based in Dundee working under the name WhimSicAL LusH. She loves nothing more than to tell illustrated stories inspired by childhood memories, exploring, nature and those little things in life that so often pass us by. She creates unique, quirky illustrations that feature on ranges of prints, stationery, homeware, accessories and more.

Suzanne helps businesses both large and small tell their stories too, with work appearing on bottles, backdrops and large walls. She has also secured prominence as a public artist with projects such as Dundee’s Discovery Walk in Dundee’s new waterfront and has been part of several public art trails, including both Oor Wullie’s Bucket Trails and Maggie’s Penguin Parade, where she was art director and trail artist too. Her work has raised in excess of £150,000 for charity. Suzanne’s work has also featured in several exhibitions and there a number of shops and galleries throughout Scotland stocking her work, as well as selling in person at events and online.
